Youghal Boy Scouts ( 35th Cork Troop) pictured 50 years ago back in June 1966 at the scout clubhouse, Store St., Youghal. The boys won the cup for the “Best Cooking On Camp” competition between the Cobh Boy Scouts and Youghal. The scout holding the tri-colour at the back centre is the late Liam Brown. The Papal Flag on the left is held by the late Tom McCarthy and the scout flag on the right is held by John Buckley. We are not sure what the shield was won for but they sure look like a happy bunch!.

Moby Dick Festival – June 2017

Our Cub Scouts were proud to take part in the Moby Dick Festival in June 2017, embracing the spirit of the sea with enthusiasm and energy. The Cubs joined in the maritime-themed festivities, donning sea creatures as they paraded through the town.

The event offered a unique chance for the Cubs to connect with the town’s maritime heritage while having great fun with their friends.

It was a wonderful day full of adventure, laughter, and community spirit — a highlight of the summer for many of the Cubs!

Sarah Jane Cashell – Chief Scout Award Recipient

We were delighted to look back and celebrate a proud moment from our group’s history. In January 2017, Sarah Jane Cashell was awarded the Cub Chief Scout Award—the highest honour in Scouting Ireland. This award recognises outstanding commitment, skill development, and leadership, and Sarah Jane’s achievement stands as a testament to her hard work and dedication.

The Scouting tradition continues in the Cashell family, as Sarah Jane’s brother, Mark, is still actively involved with our group as a leader. His continued support and enthusiasm are a great example of the lasting impact Scouting can have.
