We are incredibly proud to celebrate a huge milestone in the journey of seven of our amazing Scouts — Darragh, Donnacha, Harry, Kate, Anna, Millie, and Lillian — who successfully completed their 20km Chief Scout’s Award hike this weekend!

Crossing the finish line just after 2pm, they were greeted at the hall by a wave of cheers and applause from Cubs, leaders, parents, siblings, and friends. The energy was electric, and it was a true celebration of teamwork, perseverance, and Scouting spirit.

A Test of Endurance and Character

The Chief Scout’s Award is one of the most challenging and respected achievements in Irish Scouting, and the 20km hike is a key part of that journey. It demands careful planning, resilience, and the ability to work as a team over long distances and changing terrain.

These seven Scouts prepared diligently—organising their gear, mapping their route, and practising leadership and safety skills in the weeks leading up to the big day. Their determination never wavered, and even when the trail tested them, they supported each other right to the final step.

A Well-Earned Celebration

At the finish line, smiles (and maybe a few blisters) told the story of a challenge overcome. To mark the moment, each Scout received a temporary Chief Scout’s Award badge and a 7-in-1 survival whistle—a symbol of their achievement and the adventures still to come.

But the fun didn’t stop there! After a quick interview with JP from @CRY104FM, the Scouts tucked into what was unanimously voted the best burgers EVER, followed by some well-deserved sweet treats to finish the day in style.

A Scout Is a Friend to All

We want to give a huge shoutout to Ellen, a fellow Cub, who walked all 20km alongside the team and cheered them on the whole way. Her enthusiasm, kindness, and team spirit didn’t go unnoticed — a fantastic example of Scouting values in action.

Gratitude to Our Leaders

Behind every great Scout is a great leader (or two… or five!). Thank you to the Scouters who made this possible—from planning the route and checking gear to encouraging every step along the way. Your commitment is the foundation of everything we do.

To Darragh, Donnacha, Harry, Kate, Anna, Millie, and Lillian — congratulations once again! You’ve made your Group, your families, and your community incredibly proud. We can’t wait to see where your next adventure takes you.
