Last weekend, our scout group set off for an unforgettable adventure in West Waterford, filled with challenges, new experiences, and a deepening sense of unity. The highlight was the investiture ceremony, which took place in a way that none of us will soon forget—right in the cool waters of the lake. One by one, the new scouts waded in and received their scarf and badge in the water, pledging to uphold the scout values. The moment was both exhilarating and serene, with the stillness of the lake around us and the towering hills as our witnesses. Standing there, with the lake reflecting the early morning light, the scene felt both symbolic and grounding, as if the scouts were being welcomed by the landscape itself.

After the ceremony, we set out on a long hike, winding through West Waterford’s rugged trails. The terrain was challenging, but everyone encouraged each other along, building on the camaraderie that the investiture had sparked. By the time we reached our campsite by the lake, we were tired but full of excitement. We pitched tents, gathered firewood, and started cooking, all while enjoying the beautiful setting. As evening settled in, we circled around the fire, sharing stories and laughter that made the effort of the day feel all the more worthwhile.

The next morning, with a renewed sense of energy, a few of us decided to take one last dip in the lake. The cold water woke us up quickly, but it also reminded us of the spirit of adventure that the weekend had inspired. Looking out over the lake, surrounded by the hills and forests of West Waterford, we felt connected to each other and the natural world around us. This trip, marked by the unique experience of an investiture in the lake and the shared challenges along the way, strengthened our bonds and left us ready to face whatever comes next.
